Overview

The 1949 Mann Gulch Fire, near
Helena Montana, killed 13 firefighters when it blew up on a hot August afternoon. The lessons from that event are just as pertinent today as they were when it happened. This site is dedicated to the memory of those firefighters; its purpose is to educate wildland firefighters so that similar tragedies can be prevented.
