Incident within an Incident

When a serious accident occurs, the local unit typically is in need of assistance that is beyond experience, and training of its personnel.  The documents provided are intended to assist units in identifying a process and protocol for individuals.

All units are encouraged to complete the “Agency Administrator Guide to Critical Incident Management” (PMS-926)  http://www.nwcg.gov/pms/pubs/pubs.htm .  This guide is designed to aid personnel in chronological steps in managing an incident.  This should be used in conjunction with other plans created on the local unit.
The “Incident within an Incident” plan should be used to augment the Agency Administrators Guide.  The Incident Emergency Plan should detail specific responsibilities during the incident for personnel.  The example provided is generic in nature, and should be created to meet the needs of the unit.
