Wildland Fire Jobs

Ready for a challenge?

You have what it takes!

All open federal firefighting jobs are posted at www.usajobs.gov, and all applications must be submitted via the website. At USAJobs, you can search for these positions using the term “forestry technician” or “wildland firefighter.” This search will return all positions currently open for application within the Department of the Interior (National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service), as well as the U.S. Forest Service (Department of Agriculture).

The majority of firefighter positions are seasonal in nature, with a typical season lasting from May to September or October. If you are interested in one of these positions, you will need to begin looking and applying for these jobs several months prior, typically in November through early January, as the hiring process can be lengthy.
