BLM Fire Management Positions
Fire management positions provide supervision and oversight of local, state and national fire programs, as well as serve in supervisory roles on wildfire incidents. These positions require prior experience and qualifications and can vary greatly depending on the career path you choose. Fire management officers oversee a fire program; prescribed fire and fuels specialists manage and perform vegetation management projects and prescribed fire work; prevention and mitigation positions work with the public and cooperators to reduce the number of human-caused fires; and fire operations supervisors provide mid-level program management as well as operational fireline supervision.
Some of these positions are arduous in nature and require a medical exam and fitness test.
